Your role with us

The successful applicant will join a team of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists, Psychological therapists, Trainee Psychologists, and Assistant Psychologists. Duties are varied, but will include; assisting qualified Psychologists with psychological assessment of patients, risk assessments, data management and assisting with group therapy programmes. There will be opportunities for contributing to research, service development and training of other team members.

We pride ourselves on providing a rounded experience for our Assistant Psychologists that includes many opportunities to deliver psychological intervention to groups or individuals alongside specialist clinical administration such as data analysis to inform formulations and contributing to risk assessments and CPA reports. The current vacancy will be working to support patients who reside on our community houses to make progress with their rehabilitation.

Your profile

We are looking for people with a strong interest in working as part of a team alongside the capability to take ownership of independent tasks. You must have previous experience of working in a clinical setting where you have had the opportunity to build therapeutic relationships and develop an understanding of individual differences. We are keen for people to apply who have developed experiences working with people in our care.

Essentially you will need to have graduated from an undergraduate degree in psychology (or a conversion course) with eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society at the time of your application. This is because Assistant Psychologist roles are development roles designed for the career pathway of becoming a HCPC Registered Psychologist. To enable us to provide the right opportunities for this career development we need to know that you have the essential criteria for progression onto either other Assistant Psychologist roles; relevant further education or to take the step-up to a trainee role (via doctorate programmes; BPS routes or statement of equivalence conversions).

It will be expected that you are able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of both an Assistant Psychologist and a Registered Psychologist, which you may have developed through working with or alongside Psychology professionals in your teams and/ or through volunteering roles. We value understandings of the profession that are developed through personal experiences of mental health.

Additional essential skills include being computer literate and having excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
