Your new company is an independent, family-owned construction business based in Hampshire, England. They specialise in luxury residential developments, commercial, industrial, and hospitality construction projects, delivering bespoke new-build and refurbishment schemes with a strong focus on customer care. Their projects range in value from £70k up to £6million across Hampshire, Surrey and SW London, and they are looking to bring in a Contracts Manager to build a number of unique schemes for a diverse set of customers.
Your new role is to effectively and efficiently manage the projects to ensure the business objectives in terms of HSEQ, profitability and customer focus are achieved or exceeded. You will be reporting to the Directors, supported in the office by Estimators, Surveyors and back-office staff visiting projects and ensuring the construction tasks are completed. These tasks include managing the clients' expectations, architecture designs, issuing instructions to the Site Managers to ensure that they are adhering to the contract program and scope of work. You would need to take ownership of the contracts from the tender award stage through to practical completion of a combination of new build and refurbishment schemes for commercial, residential and public sector customers.
What you'll need to succeed is a successful history of delivering a diverse portfolio of projects as a contracts manager valuing up to £6 million on new build and refurbishment jobs in the UK. You will be based in Hampshire and be prepared to travel to sites in Portsmouth, Southampton, Surrey and Southwest London. You will be formally trained in construction holding a relevant construction qualification, B.Eng., HNC or HND, and have a good understanding of specialist trade, the construction process, site safety, IT literacy and a high level of communication skills as well as leadership. You will have the right to work in the UK, a solid UK-based work history with no self-employment, hold a CSCS card and a clean criminal record.
What you'll get in return is a permanent vacancy with a salary of £65,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, plus a vehicle or car allowance. You will be entitled to holiday pay, company pension scheme and flexible working hours revolving around site visits. This role would suit a candidate that is motivated by working without the normal bureaucratic rules of working in a contractual environment.
