Job Description

Harris Hill has an exciting opportunity for a Head of External Affairs to join an educational based not for profit organisation, for 6 to 12 months on a day rate basis.

This role is open to candidates on a PAYE, Ltd, or Umbrella basis and is willing to consider OUTSIDE IR35 applicants. The PAYE rate is £250 - £276.92 plus holiday pay with the OUTSIDE range being £322.34 - £357.05.

We're looking for a senior External Affairs profession to lead the team and drive their reputational, influencing and engagement work and ensure policy and practice best enables young people within their educational remit.

This is a high profile role within the organisation, with a responsibility for leading an integrated approach to delivering strategic objectives across government relations, policy, influencing, communications and marketing and audience engagement.

Core areas of responsibility:

Policy, Government and Parliamentary relations

Senior strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement

Press and Media relations

Strategic and Corporate communications

Marketing and Audience/ Customer engagement strategy

Audience/ Customer engagement campaigns

Strategic leadership and management

Experience:

Working at senior levels with Government and policy makers

Developing communications strategies in line with wider business objectives and ensuring delivery against stated milestones

Engaging senior stakeholders internally and externally and devising and executing communications influencing strategies

Giving senior counsel to executives

Managing projects and performance against agreed KPIs

Line management, matrix management and people development

Presenting to Boards and Executive teams

Ability to identify and manage key stakeholders, building rapport and constructive relationships across different audiences.

Ability to write exemplary engaging and accurate copy with good attention to detail.

Diplomacy, tact and understanding of others' priorities to achieve common goals.

Ability to deliver at pace.

Resilient and flexible, comfortable with complexity, uncertainty, and ambiguity

Self-starter and self-sufficient but able to work with different teams across the Company.

Strong organisational, time management and operational skills, able to manage projects from end to end.

Strong understanding of creative outputs (brand assets, campaign assets, collateral)
