Job Description
About our client

We're working with an impressive and dynamic team who are already well-established in Europe and the US where they partner with venture-backed startups by offering unique tailored financing solutions, empowering companies to scale rapidly and maximize their potential.

They are looking to make a Principal-level hire who will be the first boots-on-the-ground person in the UK to help establish a new London office. You will work alongside an existing UK venture partner as well as additional support from the Swiss and German teams with an Associate hire for London planned for later this year.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in establishing their presence in the UK as the leading asset financing specialist for startups and, as such, they are looking for an entrepreneurially-minded individual who has tenacity and communication skills. Alongside this mindset, it is important that you bring deal-making experience and ideally an existing UK venture network.

What the job involves

  1. Support the operational set-up of the new London office and help hire, build and lead the growing team.
  2. Establish and build the firm's network and reputation in the venture capital and technology ecosystems of the UK.
  3. Develop deal flow via myriad channels, including via key events in the UK and Europe, VC and startup networks, industry and university stakeholders, regional hubs and clusters.
  4. Drive transactions from initial engagement to successful deal close, including structuring and negotiation of the firm's leasing and debt solutions.
  5. Lead deal analysis and commercial/financial due diligence, including interviews, financial modelling and preparation of investment memos.
  6. Portfolio management including ongoing risk monitoring and follow-on transactions.

Who we are looking for

  1. An entrepreneurial, self-motivated team player.
  2. Undergraduate, and preferably a graduate degree, in business or science/technology.
  3. Significant relevant work experience ideally in venture debt or venture capital, or a strong background with deal-driven roles in investment banking, leveraged finance or private equity.
  4. Intellectual inquisitiveness and an ability to explore creative solutions to potential customers' needs and structure and negotiate commercial terms.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, team working and communication skills, with an ability to understand and explain complex financial, commercial and technological topics.
  6. A strong existing network in the UK venture scene is a plus.
