We are looking for a Project Controller/Coordinator for a 12 month contract on a hybrid basis (on average 3 days in the office per week) based in Winsford on behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs.

Job description - the role

As a Project Controller you will assist the Project Manager to manage the day to day running of assigned contracts for customer projects within the defence sector in the UK and overseas. The role is to support the Project Manager with day to day running, so they can focus on the strategic elements. As Project Controller/Coordinator you will be responsible for scheduling and planning, particularly relating to cost management and managing the interface.

As a Project Controller/Coordinator your responsibility will be to:

  • Enable delivery through effective integrated working and project management.
  • Create and maintain project/critical component delivery schedules in MS Project.
  • Deliver to cost, specification and time for defined packages of work.
  • Lead weekly/monthly planning updates and Integrated Project Team (IPT) meetings - (objective assessment of project status/performance updates including; progress, forecast, recovery actions).
  • Schedule variance analysis for project performance measurement.
  • Be a key contributor to various performance reviews with an understanding of key performance metrics and a proactive approach to recovery planning.
  • Provide input to financial management, including monthly monitoring, quarterly forecasts, budgets and estimates to complete.
  • Maintain, develop & communicate the plan in the designated planning tool and use this to drive delivery and reporting.

What we require from the Project Controller/Coordinator

  • Hold equivalent experience working within a similar role and proven track record in project management, achieving and exceeding targets
  • Show knowledge of Project Management areas such as planning, scheduling, project controls, infrastructure, new product introduction and product development.
  • Experience of working in a project team or cross/multi-disciplined delivery team is desirable.
  • Demonstrate experience of handling, collating, and presenting data using appropriate tools.
  • Be open-minded, curious, collaborative, and creative approach to problem-solving, and a desire to learn, develop and apply new perspectives to your work.
