ResponsibilitiesDescription of Role
This role as a Commissioning Engineer is to support installation works and configure customer equipment according to requirements as well as best industry standards.
A Commissioning Engineer serves as a technical knowledge expert and role model to others, especially new team members; ensures knowledge and skill sharing across the team to constantly elevate the overall quality of service and promote professional excellence.
QualificationsKey Responsibilities
- Working with project managers/key account managers to ensure a full understanding of the project requirements.
- Carry out system programming in line with project requirements.
- Carry out system testing and documentation for handover.
- Carry out end user training requirements in line with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company standards.
- Conduct final commissioning visits on projects.
- Assist with final handover to Project Manager/End User.
- Engineer and review physical layouts and system security designs, where required.
- Manage on-site trades and align security dependencies to project timelines.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and local service partners.
- Train on-site clients on the operation of installed systems.
- Provide updates to the Operations and Maintenance manuals as required.
- Maintain compliance with Health and Safety standards.
- Grow and maintain technical knowledge base through additional learning and training.
Experience:
- Good knowledge of industry standards & strong configuration understanding of CCTV & Access Control technologies, including IP and analogue systems, VMS software, networks, and connectivity solutions.
- Previous employment within a BAFE/SSAIB/NSI accredited company.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and self-motivated.
- Prior experience of installing, testing, and fault-finding.
- Knowledge of industry standard manufacturers preferred:
- CCTV Camera (IP & Analogue) - Bosch, Axis, Dahua, Hikvision, Ipro
- CCTV Video Management Systems - Genetec, Milestone
- Access Control - Gallagher, PAC, Win-Pak, Lenel
- Networking - HPE, Cisco, Nokia, Fortinet
Skills:
- Good communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Technical expertise in both Networking & Security Systems.
- Good administration skills with sound working knowledge of business systems and mainstream applications e.g., Microsoft Office 365 & CRMs.
- Excellent team player and relationship builder.
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
- Project-oriented but can interchange on service-related tasks when required.
- Sound commercial awareness, knowledge of design and pricing of systems and upgrades.
Certifications/Qualifications:
- Valid CSCS/ECS Card
- IPAF/PASMA/Asbestos Awareness certification
- Recent/current electrical qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
