Design Manager (Intermediate to Senior) - Facades Specialist - Belfast - £Competitive + Package

HAYS Architecture & Design are proud to be collaborating again with a specialist Facades Contractor in their search for an experienced Design Manager to join their reputable Belfast team.
With a considerable head count across multiple countries, this employer is one of the leading UK-based design, manufacture, and installers of architectural glazing systems. Providing various external façade services to many of the market leading European and UK based contractors working in the construction sector, this contractor has a team of designers, surveyors, project managers & fitters with extensive construction experience sector. This is an exciting time to join their Design ranks, with restructuring over recent years seeing them build out this side of the business with expansion into an English office, and support function in India. This has streamlined operations, meaning their Design Manager has greater freedom to focus on technical delivery and operation oversight from a design perspective. There will be sporadic travel expectations (likely once every 6 weeks), but this isn't extensive.
This position is open-ended level wise, with the focus being on finding someone with a passion for the Facades industry, and the ambition to work for a leader in the local market.
Your new role
You will oversee and manage the Design of projects allocated, on time and budget to be compliant with current legislative and quality standards. In leading the design process, you'll direct teams in the company's Indian office to ensure program is adhered to and report to the senior management team when slippage occurs. Liaising with the Estimating Department, you'll ensure drawings are in accordance with the contractual obligations of project and tender from a compliance perspective. You'll develop relations and rapport with Clients site management and installation teams. Generally, you'll oversee and coordinate the collection of data and make sure this information is incorporated into drawings, technical submittals and schematics. Consulting with Architects, Engineers, Surveyors and site teams, you'll act as an operational lynchpin. Wider duties & responsibilities are available upon request / following application.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll have a minimum of 5 years experience working in a Design function, ideally within the glazing / facades sector, with a demonstrable background in successfully delivering Curtain-walling, Structural Glazing, Windows, Doors & rainscreen cladding packages on £multi-million construction projects. You should posses broad knowledge of the overall construction process (along with current construction techniques, design methodologies and awareness of challenges / constraints of interrelated design disciplines such as architectural / structural / mechanical & electrical / fire and acoustics). You should be comfortable in the site-facing side of a Design Managers position, as well proficiency in either the creation of detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings, or the ability to manage a team creating such & rectify / troubleshoot mistakes.

With extremely limited travel required, you will be financially rewarded with a competitive salary based on your experience across their banding of £50,000 to £60,000 for a Design Manager, or £60,000 to £70,000 for a Senior.
