The Opportunity

We are looking for a Site Manager at Hitachi Energy, Grid Integration business in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and expected to travel dependent on the project.

In this position, you will lead all on-site activities of a project to assure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements during the start-up, construction, and/or erection, commissioning, and maintenance phases.


How you'll make an impact

  1. Planning project on-site activities together with the Project Manager, including necessary resources, equipment, and milestones.
  2. Coordinating agreement between customer and external resources on construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization, and policy.
  3. Responsible for the site, from receiving the assigned site area from the customer until handing it back on completion day.
  4. Serving as a project representative on site. Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and local stakeholders.
  5. Ensuring correct handling, storage, and installation of equipment and material to avoid damages.
  6. Ensuring that detailed and up-to-date risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are in place in respect of each work package, compliant with the project health and safety plan.
  7. Ensuring all on-site resources are properly trained and proactively promote health and safety considerations to project partners throughout the project.
  8. Controlling project costs for the project site work, monitoring actual spend against forecasts, and estimating final costs.
  9. Ensuring all documentation is modified and updated as necessary, the document handling system is maintained, and latest revisions are used for the construction work on site.
  10. Managing the sub-contractors on site to ensure that necessary quality and progress are achieved to meet delivery dates and agreed standards.
  11. Reporting regularly to the Project Manager on site activities, HSE (health, safety, environment), quality, progress, and cost.

Your Background

  1. 5+ years' experience as Site Manager in construction and/or installation business or similar.
  2. Good understanding of the transmission regulations and current HSE legislation.
  3. Working in substations up to 400kv preferred.
  4. Proven leadership skills, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
  5. Proactive and flexible personality.
  6. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Swedish and good communication skills in English.
