Job Description

With around 11,000 students, South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences is one of the larger state universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia. Around 300 technical and administrative staff work at the university locations in Hagen, Iserlohn, Lüdenscheid, Meschede and Soest. South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences is looking to fill the following position at short notice in Department 6 "IT Services" (IT Infrastructure Services) at the Hagen or Soest site:

Specialist for IT security (m/f/d) Tasks
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of security measures in accordance with the BSI's IT baseline protection methodology
  • Processing inquiries from the information security officer
  • Design and implementation of security measures / processes for maintaining or optimizing the IT security level
  • Participation in system administration, in particular in the operational implementation of security measures
Requirements
  • Completed Master's degree in computer science with a focus on IT security or Bachelor's degree in computer science with proof of several years of professional experience in the above-mentioned fields of work
  • In-depth knowledge of security mechanisms at network, operating system and application level according to the state of the art
  • Good knowledge of different protocols, services and topologies of IP-based networks and their interaction in an autonomous system
  • Knowledge of the administration of active network components, such as switches, routers, firewalls, VPN gateways from the enterprise sector (e.g. Extreme Networks, Forcepoint, Dell)
  • Good knowledge of German (at least C1 level spoken and written) and good knowledge of English
  • Open-minded, independent working style, initiative
  • Service orientation and enjoyment of teamwork
  • Willingness for business trips to all university locations
  • Class B driver's license is advantageous

Knowledge of the relevant standards of the Federal Office for Information Security, in particular the IT Basic Protection Compendium, as well as knowledge of IT service management according to ITIL is an advantage.

Terms of contract

The full-time employment relationship is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L) and is permanent. The position is classified in pay group 13 TV-L. In principle, the position can also be filled on a part-time basis. The working hours and place of work can be flexibly arranged within the framework of an existing model.
