Job Description
Quantity Surveyor needed with Civil/Utilities experience

We are working closely with one of the fastest growing medium-sized civil contractors in the country. Since they started trading 25 years ago, they have grown from a small surfacing contractor to a nationally recognised expert within Civil Contracting. This is an exciting time to join them as they have secured contracts with multiple tier 1 contractors, and they are even beginning to steal market share from household names within the civil contracting world. They typically undertake complex enabling and groundworks projects. However, they do get involved with inner city term maintenance contracts as well as resurfacing packages.

Your new role
You will be tasked with assisting the company director and the Senior Estimator in setting out budgets for multiple contracts and projects, using the scope of your ability to manage the various commercial aspects of a project portfolio. You'll be largely liaising with subcontractors and materials providers to set out budgets, produce costing forecasts, material and labour tendering and ensure all projects are delivered as close to the agreed budget as possible.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will already have worked within a commercial team of a civil/utilities contractor or a local authority and have a good working knowledge of using accounting softwares. You will be tasked with occasional site visits, so if you have any form of on-site experience, this is beneficial. You will be working closely with the Director, and the group are in a scale-up phase, so you'll need to possess a positive and progressive attitude to your work.

What you'll get in return
You'll get regular coaching and training as well as support from the surrounding team. You'll also be able to work on projects more closely and be more hands on than you would be within a typical tier 1 contractor. In terms of remuneration, our client is looking to pay anything up to £60k for an experienced QS, but they can also be flexible on this, depending on budget and how well you perform in interviews. Our client offer car scheme and a discretionary bonus as well.
