We are now looking for a marine engineer to retrain as a Specialist Offshore Inspector and join us on a full-time, permanent basis in Aberdeen.

The Role

As a Specialist Offshore Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring safety standards for offshore industries by undertaking assessments and inspections of floating offshore facilities.

Specifically, you will assess safety cases, conduct inspections and investigate incidents, acting as a subject matter expert.

You will focus on maritime integrity topics, assessing areas such as hull structure and watertight integrity, bilge and ballast systems, station keeping systems, cargo and inert gas systems and offloading systems.

Investigating incidents or complaints as part of a multi-disciplinary investigation team, you will deal with evidence gathering, enforcement, prosecutions, supporting others as necessary on technical aspects.

Please note, enrolment in the Specialist Training Programme (STP) is a legal requirement that you will be required to study for and successfully complete.

Additionally, you will:

- Prepare technical reports and provide expert evidence at legal proceedings
- Provide expert advice on health and safety matters associated with maritime integrity
- Engage with industry bodies to improve benchmark standards for floating offshore installations

About You

To be considered as a Specialist Offshore Inspector, you will need:

- Significant expertise in the design, construction, and operation of floating offshore installations, such as FPSOs, jack-up rigs, and semi-submersibles
- Expert-level knowledge of marine systems operation and safety
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent HSE in technical forums and during inspections
- Familiarity with risk management principles and relevant international codes and standards (e.g., ISO, IMO, API)
- A Chief Engineer unlimited STCW Certificate of Competency or a degree in Marine Engineering (or equivalent)
