Master data tools cutting across transport disciplines for improved management
This five-week course, developed by TUMI in collaboration with CITIES FORUM, addresses the pressing transport challenges faced by emerging cities. Rapid urbanization, economic growth, and increasing motorization create complex systems that require data-driven solutions. This course aims to empower professionals to navigate these complexities effectively.
Emphasizing “what gets measured gets managed,†the curriculum focuses on both the measurement and management of transport data. You will gain insights into collecting data for transport planning, traffic engineering, street design, and transport operations, utilising diverse tools and techniques for processing, analysis, visualization, and governance. The course will comprehensively cover traditional and innovative data measurement and management methods applicable to both private and public transport.
Learn from Global Experts Insights This course features 12 subject matter experts from diverse regions—The Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Costa Rica, Colombia, and globally—covering key areas of transport data and policy: transport modeling, informal transport, GTFS mapping, origin-destination data, gender-responsive transport, active mobility, bus operations, ticketing, command and control centers, and open data resources.
Overarching aim of the course The overarching aim of this course is to equip professionals in emerging cities with the latest knowledge and practices in transport data measurement and management. This expertise will enable informed decision-making, optimize urban mobility, and contribute to sustainable urban development.
The course caters to a diverse audience interested in transport data within the context of emerging cities. It is designed for transport practitioners from the public, private, and third sectors, including academics and NGOs.
Tailored modules align with various transport disciplines such as transport planning, traffic engineering, street design, and transport operations and governance. While no prerequisite knowledge is required, a basic understanding of sustainable urban mobility is recommended.
