Gain the practical skills and essential knowledge to help tackle, and adapt to, the growing threat of water scarcity.
Course Description

Develop your knowledge of water resources management

Water is essential for human health, socio-economic development, and the provision of long-term environmental services. However, it is estimated that two-thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages by 2025.

On this four-week course, you’ll learn the best practices for mitigating and adapting to water scarcity. You’ll gain practical insights and vital knowledge of water resources management and innovative water-saving solutions.

You’ll also discover recommendations for water professionals in a range of industries including manufacturing, agri-food, and water utilities.

Understand water reuse and wastewater treatment

Through interactive materials, you’ll be introduced to the use of reclaimed water in agriculture.

To develop your knowledge, you’ll dive into the economics of water reuse, review wastewater treatment, and gain an understanding of the EU regulation on water reuse.

Unpack nature-based solutions and stormwater management

Natural processes have been disrupted by urbanisation and man-made water systems. As a result, water has been forced into the economically unsustainable linear model of “take-make-consume-dispose”.

On the course, you’ll learn how nature-based solutions can sustainably address these challenges. You’ll explore different types of nature-based solutions to understand how to integrate them into urban water management.

Explore water efficiency in manufacturing industries

Finally, you’ll delve into how manufacturing industries can improve their water efficiency. You’ll look at techniques such as adaptive management, digital and circular water use innovations, and water conservation.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to understand how to tackle the growing threat of water scarcity.

This course is designed for water professionals, technologists and innovators from water authorities, policymakers, innovation startups and NGOs, and anyone interested in gaining more knowledge of water management.
