Job Description
Advanced Biomedical Scientist - Histology Specimen Dissection

Calling all experienced Biomedical Scientists! Are you yearning for a career progression filled with dynamic challenges and a variety of opportunities? Your search ends here!

We are on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Cellular Pathology team based at Charing Cross Hospital. We are a hub of innovation, commitment, and excellence and are looking for you to embark on a rewarding journey with us.

NWLP is based on a 'hub and spoke' structure; the majority of routine, specialist and non-urgent activity is centralised at our hub site at Charing Cross Hospital. Urgent tests required for immediate patient management and treatment are performed in 24/7 Essential Service Laboratories based on-site within the seven hospital sites in the group.

Our values are to be patient-focused, collaborative, expert and caring. You will be handling a diverse workload with exposure to a wide array of surgical specimens including frozen section dissection. Most importantly you will thrive in a supportive, team-oriented environment, where we prioritize training and career progression, with dedicated mentors to support your journey.

Main duties of the job

The post holder should have a keen interest in dissection, be timely and accurate in their work and well organised. The successful candidate must have HCPC Registration, MSc or FIBMS or equivalent, and demonstrable relevant experience post HCPC registration in cellular pathology.

As such they would be expected to, as part of a team, undertake the day to day management of the dissection area and specimen reception sections within the laboratory and develop and improve their professional expertise and specialist skills.

They would liaise with consultant staff and actively participate in the training programmes required for the advanced dissection role and frozen section dissection on the spoke sites. We are committed to your personal and professional development and you will have opportunities to fulfil your potential with NWLP.

About us

Benefits include career development, flexible working, staff wellbeing programmes, staff awards and recognition scheme. We also have available benefits including Cycle to Work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.
