Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist - Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

The Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS) is a flagship service for the Scottish Government Cancer Strategy (). The overall aim of RCDS is to deliver faster and earlier diagnosis and improve patient experience for patients with non-specific symptoms where cancer is suspected. The Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACNS) performs active clinical triage of referrals from GPs and acute care clinicians and coordinates testing, timely diagnosis, onward referral, healthcare advice and communication.

The ACNS needs to have excellent communication skills, experience in cancer and advanced decision making and a professional qualification in Clinical Assessment and Decision making.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

  1. Registered Nurse qualification with current NMC registration;
  2. Specialist post-graduate/post registration qualification in an Acute care setting;
  3. Significant comprehensive post registration experience within the Acute Care Setting, some of which must be at a senior level within an acute environment;
  4. Demonstrable competencies in medical assessment and interventions.

Hours:

37 hours per week/4 days - Based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
