Main duties of the jobCarry out planned and corrective maintenance, functional testing, and calibration and quality control tests on a wide range of complex medical devices. Use Manufacturer's Service Manuals, following and interpreting circuit diagrams in order to diagnose faults.
Plan and organise servicing, calibration and repair for a range of patient-critical electro-medical equipment by liaising with users and suppliers. Prioritise work load in response to urgent requests for assistance.
As a Clinical Engineer, the post-holder is expected to determine for him/herself the best way to analyse and diagnose faults on different items of equipment and how to repair faults in particular circumstances. In doing so, the post-holder is guided by policies in the quality system manual and by appropriate departmental procedures.
Order supplies of parts and accessories for a range of electro-medical equipment in preparation for its repair and maintenance. Be responsible for the safe use of the medical devices, test equipment and tools in the post-holder's care.

Person specification Skills and abilities- Able to fault find and replace electronic parts using test equipment, circuit diagrams, and other tools
- Use of fine tools for equipment fabrication/assembly/adjustment
- Ability to work as part of a team

- Ability to work under pressure and meet reasonable deadlines
- Ability to deal with constantly changing workload and situations
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to understand patient and staff risks arising from equipment failure
- Ability to manoeuvre medium/heavy weight in varying locations
- Ability to use Microsoft Office/Works to set up documents and spreadsheets
- Full Driving Licence
