Job Description

An established Japanese IT company based in central London is looking for an Assistant Accountant.
You will support the accounting team with daily tasks.
Those with strong numerical and Microsoft Excel skills would be ideal for this role.

TYPE: Permanent, full time
SALARY: Up to 30k, depending on experience
LOCATION: Central London (Mostly remote work)
WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday

Assistant Accountant Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with preparation of financial statements and management accounts
  2. Process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions
  3. Setting up and processing bank payments using the online banking platform
  4. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and bank statements
  5. Support month-end and year-end closing activities
  6. Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other tax submissions
  7. Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  8. Maintain financial records and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
  9. Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as needed
  10. Support audits by providing relevant documentation and explanations
  11. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes

Assistant Accountant Ideal Candidate:
  1. Highly fluent at using Excel (PivotTable, VLOOKUP, IF)
  2. Relevant experience in administration or accounting
  3. Basic understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and tax principles and practices
  4. Business level of fluency in written and spoken English
  5. Numerical skills
  6. Some understanding of Japanese culture would be advantageous
