Job Description

On Wednesday 5th March, The English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish FAs (Home Nations) announced their intention to bid for the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup. The Bid is to be delivered by the English Football Association (The FA) on behalf of all partners - working with the host associations, UK Government, devolved governments, UK Sport and wider partners.

This role sits at the centre of the UK bid to host the 2035 FIFA Women's World Cup, providing wide-ranging support across all areas of the bid. This will include a specific focus on supporting the development of the bid book, providing administrative support for the bid team, arranging travel and accommodation for team members, and other specific project tasks.

This position is a fixed-term contract through until June 2026.

What will you be doing?

Based at the English FA, you will work in a small bid team to support the delivery of a bid for an event which would be an incredible opportunity to drive positive change and leave lasting legacies across our communities.

Key accountabilities
  • You will be a central point of contact for the Bid Team and will hold responsibility for a range of coordination and administrative duties.
  • Coordinate all bid partnership meetings including scheduling, venue bookings, meeting logistics, agendas and actions.
  • Manage all travel and accommodation for the Bid Team including attendance at external meetings and site visits, liaising as required with bid partners, venues and stakeholders.
  • Assist the Bid Team with a variety of tasks including the preparation of presentations, papers and general administration.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive contact directories for the bid partnership and stakeholders ensuring GDPR requirements are met.
  • Responsible for overseeing the processing and payment of project costs and invoices and maintaining accurate budgets.
  • Assist in the delivery of the bid in line with FIFA's Tournament Requirements and the objectives of Bid Partners. In addition to providing general support to the team, the right candidate will have the opportunity and desire to take on additional responsibilities within the project and play a key role in the delivery of the bid.
  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

Essential skills required for the role are detailed below; any further experience, either working at The English FA or in a national governing body, events or sports bid role will be advantageous.

Essential for the role:
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in the MS Office suite.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and be asked for support from various members of the team at any time.
  • Confidentiality as at times will have access to sensitive information.
  • Motivated and passionate about working within sporting events. Previous experience in major events is beneficial.
  • Proactive, approachable and positive attitude.
  • A desire to take on new tasks and areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to both establish and maintain relationships with wide-ranging and diverse stakeholders.
  • An understanding of football and the structures within the game.
  • Experience of working in a dynamic environment.
