About the Role:

We are seeking a talented Freelance Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer to join a dynamic team in Brussels. As a BI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data systems and reporting solutions that drive business decisions. You will work closely with business stakeholders and data teams to transform raw data into actionable insights.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on implementing innovative BI solutions. The role allows for some remote flexibility, but you will be expected to collaborate regularly with local teams in Brussels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end BI solutions, including data models, ETL processes, and reporting dashboards.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data for reporting and analysis.
• Build and maintain interactive data visualizations and reports using BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into BI solutions.
• Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights to support decision-making across departments.
• Monitor and troubleshoot BI solutions to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and performance.
• Support data integration efforts across various platforms and ensure seamless data flow between systems.
• Assist in the optimization of database performance and BI tool configurations.
• Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and reports.
• Stay current on BI industry best practices and emerging technologies to continually improve BI solutions.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience (3+ years) as a BI Engineer, Data Analyst, or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or QlikView for reporting and data visualization.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration tools.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. Knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with data automation and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Alteryx.
• Familiarity with Python or R for advanced data processing and analysis.
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR).
• Experience in the integration of machine learning models into BI systems.
