Catastrophe Analyst - Aon Underwriting Managers
Aon Underwriting Managers (AUM) is Aon's in-house MGA managing a growing portfolio transacting over $1bn Gross Written Premium in 2024 including Aon's market leading Aon Client Treaty (ACT).
AUM is seeking an ambitious Catastrophe Analyst to join its Exposure Management team to work primarily on the exposure management of ACT but also to support the wider business.
The role offers the chance to collaborate closely with underwriters, actuaries, brokers & carriers across multiple classes of business. This role is of fundamental importance to the success of ACT.
To succeed, a sound understanding of catastrophe modelling concepts and the Direct & Facultative market is essential. This role provides great opportunities to gain experience and grow.
Main responsibilities for this role:- Maintain an accurate and complete portfolio in Touchstone.
- Manage pre & post-bind workflows.
- Perform quality control checks of accounts prepared by our outsource partner.
- Produce monthly conversions of the portfolio using ImpactWorkBench to support other vendor models.
- Manage exposures within agreed appetite limits.
- Demonstrate portfolio drivers through marginal impact analysis.
- Deliver weekly & monthly exposure reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide pre-bind analysis of critical cat exposed accounts to demonstrate their impact on the portfolio.
- Deliver detailed event response analysis to internal stakeholders & externally to carriers to identify impacted accounts and loss potential.
- Produce analysis to support the annual renewal of ACT.
- Communicate to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner to ensure a correct interpretation of analysis output and subsequent decision making.
- Assist the wider team with other portfolios under management, model upgrades, client modelling projects and other ad hoc tasks.
- Business Knowledge - fundamental to good exposure management is a sound understanding of the classes of business within the portfolio. A strong understanding of direct & facultative contract terms across multiple lines of business is essential.
- Diligence - Daily decisions based on Exposure Management data require reliable data & clear delivery so attention to detail is a key.
- Analytical Skills - ability to analyse high volumes of complex data quickly and accurately to aid confident decision making. A mathematical background is preferable but not essential.
- Technical Skills - familiarity with Verisk & Moody's RMS modelling platforms. Confident ability to use SQL & VBA to query and improve data. Proficient at using Excel, PowerPoint & PowerBI to visualise data effectively.
- Problem Solving - ability to find appropriate solutions to new challenges.
- Communication - ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner to a range of stakeholders. A desire to take a lead role in presenting to stakeholders.
- Time Management & Teamwork - able to work proactively with minimal direct supervision, individually or as part of a team. Flexibility to manage peak workloads.
