Certification Engineer

DNV is seeking a Certification Engineer for Energy Systems to join our dynamic team, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance and certification of key energy infrastructure components.

In this position, you will be responsible for conducting certification services for a wide range of assets, including containers, cranes, load tests, and both offshore and onshore upstream components. You will collaborate with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to develop and implement certification plans, perform site inspections, and prepare detailed technical reports. Your expertise will ensure that all activities adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of certification processes.

This role will report to the Team Lead of Technical Verification and be based in our DNV office in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico.

What You'll Do

• Conduct certification services for containers, cranes, load tests, and upstream - offshore/onshore components.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
• Develop and implement certification plans.
• Conduct site visits and inspections.
• Prepare reports and documentation.
• Communicate with clients and stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to clients.
• Identify and resolve issues related to certification services.
• Maintain accurate records of certification activities.
• Participate in training and development activities.
• Evaluate design documentation, specifications, and test results to verify adherence to applicable codes.
• Collaborate with project teams to align verification activities with project timelines and milestones.
• Engage with clients to understand their specific requirements and expectations for the activities.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients on compliance issues and best practices.
• Stay abreast of industry regulations, codes, and standards relevant to the oil and gas sector.
• Ensure that testing processes align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for certification activities.
• Conduct audits to verify that certification processes are consistently applied and meet company and industry standards.
• Generate comprehensive technical reports documenting certification activities, findings, and recommendations.
• Maintain accurate records of certification processes and outcomes for future reference and auditing purposes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, project managers, and clients, to facilitate effective communication and integration of certification activities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement within the certification workflow.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers or other team members.
• Share knowledge and best practices to build a strong and competent certification team.
• Implement lessons learned from previous projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of certification processes.
• Act as Bid Manager for upcoming opportunities.
• Act as Project Manager for simple and regular projects.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

What is Required

• Education: B.S. or greater in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering.
• Years of related experience: 3 - 5 years.
• Technical competencies:
• Microsoft Excel and Word, strong technical writing skills, problem solving, critical thinking, ability to pick up technical concepts quickly.
• Behavioral competencies:
• Attention to detail, internally driven/motivated, hard working, strong social skills, professional presence, often takes the initiative independent of direct instruction.
• Ability to work on a team effectively and efficiently, but also be able to show effectiveness when working individually.

• Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job (standing, lifting, climbing, other): Fit to onboard ships and platforms, do walkarounds and site inspections, required to get applicable permits to fly on helicopter (T-bosiet).
• Willing to travel to Ciudad del Carmen, MX.
• English, written and spoken.
