Job overviewThis post offers an exciting opportunity to work in the Facial Pain Team within the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals Division of University College London NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will work alongside other clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, nursing, medical, and administrative colleagues within a small, vibrant, and supportive multidisciplinary team to improve the quality of life of individuals experiencing persistent facial pain.
This job offers excellent opportunities to develop teamworking, managerial, and leadership skills as well as greater clinical expertise through regular internal and external Continued Professional Development opportunities.
Experience of working with people with persistent pain in pain management programmes is essential. Supervision is provided by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for an enthusiastic clinical or counselling psychologist with well-developed skills in engaging people, communication, and teamwork. The ability to develop patient-centred treatment plans is essential, as is the capacity to respond adaptively to feedback and address obstacles and setbacks creatively.
We seek individuals who are interested in reflective practice both in their daily clinical work and regarding continued professional development with the team.
The focus of clinical work includes engaging therapeutically with individuals to improve their quality of life in the presence of facial pain in individual sessions, assessments, and within Pain Management Programmes.
There are opportunities to supervise clinical psychologists in training, provide teaching, and become involved in Schwartz Rounds within the Division.

Person specification Knowledge and Qualifications- BA Hons or BSc Hons in Psychology recognised by the BPS and HCPC
- Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology, or equivalent
- Current Health and Care Professions Council registration as Clinical Psychologist
- Working towards further postgraduate qualifications
- Multi-professional healthcare team working
- Working with people with persistent pain
- Working in multidisciplinary group pain management programmes
- Working within a multi-cultural framework
- Formal teaching and training to healthcare providers other than psychologists
