We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual to join the breast cancer nursing team as Clinical Nurse Specialist. If you thrive on a challenge and feel that you can make a difference to the care of cancer patients, this post may be for you.

Main duties of the job

We offer one-stop diagnostic clinics every day, ensuring that patients with breast malignancies and those with benign disease receive the highest standard of care and support from the time of diagnosis and throughout their treatment pathway. Our breast surgeons offer a range of oncoplastic procedures, working closely with other providers in the network. The multi-disciplinary team provides seamless care to all patients from diagnosis through treatment to living with and beyond cancer; care is underpinned throughout by care from specialist nurses.

Person specification Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
  • Recognised teaching qualification or equivalent
  • Completion of degree
  • Leadership Course
  • Level 2 Psychological Skills training
  • Advanced Communication Skills Training
Experience
  • Significant experience within breast surgery, oncology, palliative care or women's health
  • Experience of delivering patient advocacy
Skills and Abilities
  • Proven listening/counselling skills with the ability to manage complex situations and appropriately deliver sensitive and difficult outcomes.
  • Evidence of teaching skills, particularly in teaching patients how to manage their conditions and raise awareness of their condition.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
  • Sound knowledge of current issues in the profession and practice of cancer nursing
  • Time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to cover the service with a flexible positive approach.
  • Regular awareness of own limitations and personal maturity
  • The ability to manage stressful situations.
