Band 6 Paediatric Endocrine Nurse Specialist
0.8 WTE - 12 months Fixed-Term
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a 0.8 WTE Band 6 CNS to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team for 12 months.
The Endocrine service serves the population of the South West region. This role will establish you as a key member of the team and help to deliver care to this patient group. Prior exposure to patients with endocrine conditions is desirable but not essential.
Our patient cohort can require specialist diagnostic tests, therapeutic treatments, and regular monitoring. The post holder will be part of a team of specialist nurses who provide specialist nursing care, education, and advice to both parents/carers and other centres. You will be expected to work with a multitude of professionals, be confident, and able to communicate on a wide range of levels.
The Endocrine CNS is often the first point of contact for enquiries from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
As part of the role, you will assist in undertaking the Growth Stimulation Tests on the medical day care ward. You will also gain skills in Auxology to help assist us in the assessment of the children's growth.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will need to work within a team but also to work without supervision, using their own initiative, demonstrating problem solving and excellent organisational skills.
You must be able to work flexibly and provide a safe, friendly, and efficient service and be conscious of the need to cover the fixed clinical commitments.

- 1st Degree in nursing or health-related subject
- Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
- Willingness to work towards Masters level academic study
- Appropriate post-registration experience in Paediatric nursing, speciality

- Experience as preceptor/mentor
