We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical psychologist to join the Psychological and Mental Health Service (PAMHS). The post will primarily be in the Attachment and Trauma Team which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, psychotherapist, family therapist and clinical psychologists.
The team works with children with complex trauma, attachment difficulties and a background of abuse and neglect who are presenting with a range of neurodevelopmental, mental health and behavioural difficulties. We also see children with complex and perplexing physical presentations and those with trauma symptoms relating to their medical treatment. The team carries out comprehensive assessments and provides a range of evidence-based treatments to children and young people and their families.
The successful candidate will join a large psychological and mental health department and be able to access the learning and opportunities that come with being part of a leading children's hospital. There is an expectation that the post holder will also provide some input to other services across the department which provides opportunities for additional experiences.

Person specification- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS/HCPC, including clinical psychometrics, eating disorders and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council as Practitioner Psychologist (or eligible for registration once qualified)
- ADOS-2/ADI/3Di/ trained
- Trained in a formal attachment assessment
- Experience of working with in an MDT
- Experience and expertise with looked after and adopted children, children and young people with PTSD and complex trauma
- Experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental conditions including ASD and ADHD
- Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts and of working in a multicultural framework
- Experience of working with clinical complexity and distressing and emotive information
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Understanding of diversity and inclusion challenges in the workplace.
- Demonstrable contribution to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The recruitment process for all admin and clerical roles at Bands 2-4 will be a two stage recruitment process whereby shortlisted candidates will undertake an online literacy, numeracy, ICT and typing test. Only those candidates who pass the competency test will proceed to a formal interview.
