Salford CAMHS for Cared For Children (STARLAC) is a long-established specialist multi-agency and multidisciplinary service, providing support for Looked After Children and Young People supported by Salford City Council Children's Services. The post holder will work 0.5 WTE with STARLAC, offering assessment and intervention, specialist consultation and staff training as part of this team. Within the other 0.5WTE of the post, the post holder will sit within Salford locality CAMHS, providing targeted case management and therapeutic offers for Greater Manchester Looked After Children.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will offer assessment and intervention, specialist consultation and staff training. They will provide a range of high-quality interventions appropriate to the child or young person's needs, including mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation, and evidence-based interventions.

Person Specification Registration/ Accreditation- You must be registered/accredited with a professional body (e.g., NMC, SW England, UKCP, HCPC, BACP)
- You must have a recognised qualification: Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the BPS, Registered Nursing: RMN/RSCN/RNMH, Social Work (CQSW/DipSW), Occupational Therapy.
- Additional postgraduate training in psychological therapies and interventions.
- Experience in working with Looked After Children and multi-agency working.
- Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families.
- Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.
- Proven experience of working effectively with children and young people with mental health difficulties, including autonomous management of a complex caseload.
- Experience of assessing and managing risk, including safeguarding.
- Experience of developing and providing evidence-based assessments, formulations, and care plans.
- Experience of hard-to-reach diverse community groups and individuals with complex needs.
- Experience of mentoring and supervision of others.
- Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance and a willingness to follow Trust Policy and Procedures.
- Community mental health experience across a variety of settings.
- Up-to-date knowledge of child mental health and relevant legislation.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in delivery of evidence-based practice.
- The ability to assess, formulate and manage care appropriately.
- Ability to integrate psychological theories and outcome data with clinical practice.
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions with children and their parents/carers.
- Highly developed communication skills.
- The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to provide feedback and constructive guidance to junior members of the team.
- The ability to manage own caseload and act as lead practitioner.
- Use of a car or access to a means of travel across the Trust footprint.
