Clinical Research Midwife / Nurse / Practitioner - Generation Study

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the research and development directorate. We are looking for a highly motivated clinical research midwife / nurse / practitioner, who will be responsible for the coordination and management of an agreed research portfolio within the clinical genetics service at St George's Hospital.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the research team and wider multidisciplinary team in the management of their own caseload of research patients and be accountable for the achievement of local and national targets in relation to the service.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will deliver a range of clinical genetics research studies under the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio. The post offers an exciting opportunity to work across different genetics specialities, such as oncogenetics, neurology, rare disease and other general disorders.
This role involves liaison with Principal Investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality data collection and clinical care, with a commitment to participant safety and welfare. The post holder will be expected to advocate for patients and empower them to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical research studies by providing advice and information.
The role is primarily based at St George's Hospital; however, some cross-site working may be required.
This role would offer ideal experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing genomic counselling or developing a career in the development and delivery of clinical research in the NHS. Previous experience of working in clinical research is desirable.

Person Specification Skills- Excellent communication, interpersonal & management skills
- Competent IT skills utilised in clinical research
- Demonstrates ability to prioritise workload
- Highly motivated & able to motivate others
- Understanding of clinical research and treatment protocols / participation in basic clinical research
- Knowledge through academia or experience of clinical genetics and/or other relevant medical speciality
- Motivated & demonstrates enthusiasm for clinical research and/or clinical genetics
- Adaptable & responsive to changing needs
- Experience of managing a complex clinical research workload
- Evidence of successfully working with and contributing to a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of acting as a patient advocate
- Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner
- Experience of phlebotomy
- First level Degree in life science or health related discipline
- Completed post graduate qualification in speciality or clinical research related field
- Teaching & assessing qualification or equivalent relevant experience
