Job Description
Commercial and Operations Manager (Fintech)

London - Hybrid (min 50% office based)

We have a brand new role for a Commercial and Operations Manager within our Retail business, to support the Retail Commercial & Propositions Director in driving the financial success and growth of the business, as well as being responsible for overseeing and managing the commercial and operational aspects of Just's platform service, Spire Platform Services.

This role can be a great career opportunity for someone with an accountancy or actuarial degree or working towards it, looking for a new challenge, or someone working as a business manager within financial services, looking to develop their leadership, strategy, and commercial skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the development and implementation of commercial strategies including undertaking opportunity assessments and considering the overall strategy of the business.
  2. Support the Commercial director and other Retail commercial leads in maximizing revenue and efficiencies in the Retail business.
  3. Facilitate trading committees to support forward-looking actions to deliver the business plan.
  4. Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities.
  5. Manage budgets and financial plans for the platform service, including revenue forecasting and cost control.
  6. Analyze financial reports and performance data to make informed business decisions.
  7. Support in the negotiation of contracts and agreements with clients, suppliers, and partners to ensure favorable terms.
  8. Assess and mitigate potential risks associated with commercial activities.
  9. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  10. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify potential threats and opportunities to drive improvement in performance.

Skills and Experience:

  1. Degree educated or professional equivalent in business or strategy qualification, including finance or actuarial.
  2. Experience in either Financial Services, FinTech, Accountancy, or actuarial.
  3. Proven ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve commercial objectives.
  4. Proven track record of delivery - excellent planning, coordination, and organization skills.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make strategic decisions under pressure.
  6. Strong ability to analyze financial data and market trends to make data-driven decisions.
  7. Proficiency in using analytical tools and software to interpret complex information.
  8. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and business partners.
  9. Strong risk awareness including the ability to identify a range of risks (commercial, legal, financial, engagement impact etc.) and apply a risk-based approach to decision-making including mitigating actions.
