Commercial Solicitor - Public-Private Partnerships

BCL Legal is working with a market-leading national law firm, seeking an ambitious and talented commercial lawyer to join their dynamic and busy team in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile public-private partnership (PPP) arrangements, specifically in the student accommodation sector.

About the Role:

As part of this thriving commercial team, the successful candidate will have the chance to work on a range of complex, high-value projects involving universities and private sector consortia. The role focuses on the procurement of student accommodation and covers various contractual arrangements including procurement strategies, joint ventures, project finance, and long-term facilities management.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leading on major projects, advising on a variety of commercial contracts
  2. Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing high-value agreements
  3. Collaborating with internal and external teams across multiple legal disciplines
  4. Contributing to business development, attending pitches, and building a network within the sector
  5. Mentoring and supervising junior team members

What You'll Need:

The firm is looking for a commercial lawyer with strong experience in handling major commercial contracts. The ideal candidate will:

  1. Have a solid background in commercial law, with experience in projects, procurement, or real estate
  2. Demonstrate excellent drafting skills and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to legal advice
  3. Be comfortable taking on responsibility, leading projects, and managing client relationships
  4. Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  5. Experience with public procurement processes or working with universities would be an advantage, though not essential.
