Citi Market Operations is a dynamic, global and diverse organisation, with a presence in over 60 Countries covering all post-execution Operations teams including product aligned Middle Office groups, Settlements, Margin, Asset Servicing, Listed Derivative & Commodities Operations.
The role resides within the EMEA Commodities Operations team based in London, who are primarily responsible for supporting and partnering with the Commodities Business across the full suite of their activities. The Commodities business transacts high volumes across many different markets including Oil, Precious Metals, Base Metals, Softs, Power, Freight & Emissions.
This Director position is responsible for global operational oversight of all Commodities Precious Metals activities. The candidate will be expected to partner with the business, focusing on building robust operational procedures, partnering with technology to develop and improve workflows and implement a robust risk and control environment across deliveries, settlement and inventory management. We require a specialist with extensive experience managing a global precious metals operations team within a banking environment, has a comprehensive knowledge of the precious metals market and can demonstrate previous experience in managing a change / transformation program.
What you will do:
- Act as a strategic partner with all potential stakeholders in supporting Citi's Commodities business precious metal activities.
- Partner with technology and ensure proper build out of systems, processes, and develop the standards of risk and controls for all precious metal activities.
- Build a globally aligned operational team ensuring talent is developed, succession planning is in place and resourcing is aligned to the needs of the business.
- Serve as an analytical and procedural expert in the full trade life cycle while supporting a wide range of internal and external clients.
- Closely follow trends in the industry, identify cost-saving opportunities and build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Increase productivity and efficiencies by analyzing and presenting data to develop new solutions and oversee the integrity of process.
- Assist with overseeing the risk control environment, compliance efforts to follow policies and procedures and keep abreast of Citi's operational processes and best practices in business strategy.
- Serve as an advisor and coach to new or junior level staff on procedures and work processes across multiple departments.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
What we need from you:
- Extensive experience in Commodities Operations.
- Senior to advanced level experience in a related role preferred.
- Subject matter expert in one or more areas of function.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment.
- Effective project management and negotiation skills.
- Consistently demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication.
