Job overview

Applications are invited for enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant Dermatologists to join our well-established and expanding department. This is a replacement post for a General Dermatologist and is ideally suited for someone with or wishing to develop a specialist interest, e.g., patch testing, autoimmune disease, vulval dermatoses, complex surgery/Mohs micrographic surgery. It is anticipated that this post will be for 10 programmed activities per week. However, we would be happy to interview applicants wishing to work part-time or in a job share.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide effective and compassionate care for our Dermatology patients. While there are not currently any inpatient beds, the successful applicant will work closely with medical colleagues to provide inpatient support and outpatient services.
  • Develop their own area of specialist interest and provide sub-specialty expertise.
  • Develop and expand the current Dermatology service locally and regionally.
  • Work with the Clinical Director and General Manager to review current working practices and drive forward innovative changes to develop new models of care.
  • Provide expert advice and support regarding complex cases to clinical colleagues in primary and secondary care.
  • Get involved in clinical research, teaching, and development.
  • Clinical supervision of junior members of the team and nursing team.
  • Vetting of referrals.

Person specification Education, Qualifications & Training
  • MBBS or equivalent GMC registerable qualifications and MRCP all parts.
  • Higher degree PhD or MD or equivalent.
Experience
  • General training in Dermatology specialist level or equivalent.
  • Subspecialist skills.
  • Ability to make decisions at Consultant level.
  • Skin cancer complex surgical skills.
Clinical and Technical skills
  • Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the Government's agenda for its modernisation.
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • Full Driving Licence and regular access to a car.
