We are delighted to advertise this substantive Consultant Psychiatrist post to join our well-established Eating Disorder Service team. The post is full time (10 PAs) and the postholder would be expected to join the out of hours Consultant rota, for which additional remuneration would be payable.

Main duties of the job

Our Eating Disorder Service is an all-age service but this post is specifically aligned to supporting adult patients. The service is split into five localities across the Trust with work bases in Ormskirk, Nelson, Preston, Blackpool, and Lancaster. There would be flexibility for the postholder to discuss the main work base most appropriate for them, although they would be expected to visit the other work bases when there was a clinical need to do so.

The role would include direct interventions to patients, including the psychiatric and medical assessments of patients, and formulation of complex cases with medical and psychiatric needs. You would take a leading role in the monitoring and treatment of physical conditions of eating disorders, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals (dieticians, physicians, paediatricians, general practitioners, etc.).

Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.

It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
