Contract: Substantive

Hours: Frequency 1:14; Category A - 3% on call supplement (pro-rata)

Location: Lenworth Clinic, 329 Hythe Road, Ashford, Kent TN24 0QE

  • CCT or equivalent
  • Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it
  • Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it
  • Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST
Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting to a CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist position in the Ashford CAMHS Community Team, based at Lenworth Clinic. This is a replacement, substantive, part-time post - 8 PAs with 5.5 PA DCC and 2.5 SPA. You will join another substantive Consultant and a 0.6wte Specialty Doctor within the service.

Job responsibilities

You will be expected to:

  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to children and young people with mental health needs, across Ashford.
  • Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
  • Work directly with young people and their families and liaise with other external CAMHS mental health providers and acute hospitals.
  • Participate in the on-call rota with a frequency of 1:14, including a 3% of basic salary Category A on-call supplement.
  • Support your peers and team leader, and be an effective team member.
  • Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • CCT or equivalent. Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
  • Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it. Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
Clinical Experience
  • Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders under children including neurodevelopment disorders.
  • Experience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge
  • An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF, and clinical governance priorities.
  • Extensive knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence-based management interventions.
  • An understanding of Leadership and evidence of how this has been put into practice.
Clinical Skills
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Clear thoughts on how to involve service users in service development.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum pro rata
