Job overviewThe post holder will be Consultant Psychiatrist to the Greenwich East Anxiety, Depression, Personality Disorders and Trauma Team (ADAPT) with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. This is the remaining WTE of a consultant post within the team and will be a job share post. There will be an 'overlap' day to ensure handover and for both consultants to attend the weekly team meeting. The current consultant has been in post for many years and has provided medical leadership to the team.
The ADAPT Pathway provides focused, therapeutic interventions to adults residing within the Greenwich Borough who require care and treatment for anxiety, depression, affective disorders (without psychosis), personality disorders, and trauma. The service aims to be flexible and accessible.
The pathways of care aim to offer individuals choice and involvement regarding their treatment, actively encouraging their participation in the planning and implementation of their care. A personalised care plan will be devised in consultation with the service user and their carer/family where appropriate.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for the care and treatment of patients within the team. This will involve:
- Attending multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss new referrals to the team.
- Attending zoning meetings during the week to help the team prioritize contacts with patients, especially those service users who are deteriorating and presenting with increasing risk.
- Chairing review/CPA meetings, offering crisis appointments to patients who are in the red zone, and providing home visits and telephone advice to general practitioners and other professionals involved with the care of service users on the ADAPT caseload.
- Having timetabled outpatient clinics each week, with an average of 4-6 patients in Medical Clinics and 2 patients in Assessment Clinics. It is anticipated there will be 2-3 clinics constituting direct clinical care each week.
- Having protected time for administrative work and access to appropriate digital/technological support for timely communication with primary care colleagues.

The service aims to be flexible and accessible, encouraging individual choice and involvement regarding treatment.
A personalised care plan will be devised in consultation with the service user and their carer/family where appropriate. Each individual receiving care will be allocated either a health care professional (HCP) or care coordinator responsible for ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with the care/treatment plan, and that the needs of the individual are regularly reviewed, with risks and care plans modified accordingly.
