The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) of Rising Ground understands the importance of removing barriers to care and providing trauma-informed services. Through this dedication, the TRC aims to transform services for survivors of violent crime. Rising Ground's TRC is designed to help victims of violent crimes overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC supports recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gunshot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The Trauma Recovery Center facilitates healing for survivors of trauma, violence, and loss through an innovative model that blends comprehensive care, advocacy, and outreach.

The Victim Support Service Coordinator of the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) will answer all requests and referrals for TRC services. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will complete and process all new referrals and input referrals into the database. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will also be responsible for providing information about community resources (i.e., counseling, legal services, food pantries, educational/vocational programs, children's activities, etc.) to individuals requesting information and will maintain an up-to-date list of these resources. Additionally, the Victim Support Service Coordinator will screen all clients for the Office of Victims' Services compensation program, as well as process and submit these applications. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will maintain a caseload of 10-15 clients seeking advocacy services and share TRC program information with various community partners to increase accessibility to trauma survivors within the community. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and anti-oppressive practice, ample experience providing advocacy services to various demographics of people, and a desire to work collaboratively with a team of creative and committed advocates. Experience working with survivors of trauma is preferred. All candidates must have a strong understanding of trauma-based work. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will work under the supervision of the TRC Director. This position is located in our downtown Brooklyn location with a hybrid schedule of 3 office days and 2 days remote. To meet program needs, all staff in the TRC will conduct home visits and accompaniment/advocacy in the community as needed. Must be flexible to work outside of specified hours to meet client demand.

Responsibilities
  • Answer requests for TRC information, process all incoming referrals, and input referral information into the database.
  • Screen all new clients for Office of Victims' Services compensation eligibility and process/submit applications.
  • Provide information to clients/community partners about resources in the community and maintain an up-to-date list of these resources.
  • Present new resources, possible supports, and information in team meetings.
  • Conduct intake assessments and maintain a caseload of 10-15 clients seeking advocacy services.
  • Actively engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and case coordination with other programs and relevant agencies.
  • Participate actively in weekly supervision, weekly team meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Attend staff meetings and other assigned meetings, participate in training sessions (e.g., in-services, grand rounds).
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain program records and complete daily, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MSW preferred.
  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Understanding of trauma-based work and working with survivors of trauma.
  • Experience working with New York City public assistance, housing, Medicaid, and employment services.
  • Passion for incorporating reflective practice around issues of race, oppression, and intersectionality.
  • Experience providing helpline and/or comprehensive case management services and advocacy.
  • Proficiency working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles with various identities.
  • Must demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, recovery philosophy.
  • Excellent documentation and clinical skills, ability to set priorities, work independently, excellent follow-up, and work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills and the ability to apply these skills in varied situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently.

Annual Salary: $55,000
