The project:
An exciting opportunity to join the Cost & Commercial Management team working with a small selection of our strategic clients within our Government Departments business unit which includes the UK Parliament. The role will involve advising across a full range of cost planning, project budgeting, forecasting and strategic procurement services to ensure that client objectives are met through the delivery of a value-added cost management service.

You'll be responsible for:
- Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports, and applying value management techniques at the outset of a project.
- Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
- Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
- Being a key interface with clients, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages.
- Handling contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract.
- Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products, and hence improve the services provided to clients.
- Identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes.
You'll need to have:
- Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
- Previous experience working with heritage sector clients is desirable, but not essential.
- JCT form of contract experience essential with some knowledge of NEC.
- Cost planning, budgeting, and estimating experience.
- Some knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
- Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration.
- Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
- Strong understanding of industry best practices.
- Understanding of hot topic issues such as sustainability, social value, and carbon reduction impacting the public sector.
- Capex V Opex Cost Analysis/advice.
You'll also have:
- A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.
- Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS.
