To perform high quality MRI scans. Contribute to a patient focused service of the highest quality under the supervision of senior radiographers and CT and General X-ray Superintendent.

Job Summary:

Key Results Areas/Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To carry out all aspects of MR and CT duties within the cross-sectional imaging department to a high professional standard.
2. To perform imaging examinations with a high level of patient care, demonstrating awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients.
3. To perform a wide range of CT and MRI examinations. Training will be provided if required.
4. To assist with the development and implementation of training plans for radiographic staff.
5. To administer drugs and contrast agents in line with Patient Group Directions (PGDs), local protocols and departmental policies.
6. To maintain proficiency in all modalities of X-ray, standing CT, DEXA, and theatre operation specialities such as cardiac, orthopaedic, pain lists, etc.
7. Liaise closely with consultants and colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team.
8. To evaluate the clinical quality of images produced and to make appropriate protocol adjustments/recommendations to maximise the clinical accuracy for the imaging reports.
9. To accurately record data using CompuCare.
10. To be proficient with PACS and the Image Exchange Portal (IEP).
11. To ensure that high professional standards are maintained throughout the department, in terms of dress, technical quality and patient care.

18. To discuss issues with Referring Clinicians and other hospital agencies, for example, discussing or clarifying requests for imaging examinations.
19. To partake in quality assurance testing across Imaging equipment.
20. Be responsible for the safe and competent use of expensive and complex equipment.
21. Have knowledge of, and be able to apply, local dose reference levels (DRLs).
22. Take responsibility for compliance with 'Local Rules' in the monitoring and maintaining of radiation-controlled areas in which examinations involving ionising radiation are being undertaken.
23. Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all users including maintaining high standard of cleanliness and adhere to infection control policies.
24. Communicate abnormal findings in accordance with Centre's SOP's.
25. To monitor stock level, ensuring adequate levels are maintained for all consumable used, highlighting deficiencies as they arise to the appropriate staff.
26. To report all equipment faults to the equipment manufacturer or maintenance contract provider and the MRI superintendent and CT/General X-ray Superintendent, without delay.
27. To ensure that any operational difficulties are reported promptly to the respective Superintendent of the imaging modality.
28. To work effectively under pressure.
29. To participate in the Monday - Sunday and on call rota. The rota may change to meet continued service delivery.

12. Manage, defuse, and respond appropriately with verbal complaints and situations of conflict and aggression through knowledge, training, experience, and escalation.
13. Adhere to all General data protection regulations GDPR.
14. To deal with initial complaints from patients, carers or other professionals and refer where necessary to the appropriate MRI Superintendent and CT/General X-ray Superintendent.
15. To observe the Centre's policy for reporting incidents in a timely manner.
16. To produce and implement incident action plans.
17. To develop protocols and update SOP's.
