Purpose of Job:
To work within a Resilience framework, providing a comprehensive and effective integrated social work service that responds to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner, within statutory guidelines and obligations of the council.

The post holder will have the skills and ability to practice at a higher level, including deputising for the line manager when unavailable or acting in a line management position as designated by the Head of Service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Take a lead role in a specialist area of work as directed by departmental policies and procedures.
2. Demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations; assess and manage higher levels of risk for themselves and less experienced social workers.
3. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safeguarding and permanence measures at a high level of complexity within their own cases.
4. Support and mentor less experienced social workers to ensure all children reach their full potential.
5. Participate actively in the Workforce Development Programme; act as Practice Educators and assessors for trainee Practice Educators.
6. Work to a structured time management practice, submitting reports, assessments, and plans within regulated timescales.
7. Maintain competency in all areas of the Knowledge and Skills Statements for Child and Family social workers, including the Knowledge and Skills Statement: Achieving Permanence.

Minimum Requirements:
Substantial post-qualifying experience in a statutory Children Social Care setting is required. A Practice Educators Award is desirable; if not held, it is expected to be achieved within the first year of employment.
