Position Available: Customer Facing Finance Manager

Location: Hertfordshire or Gloucestershire

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 (DoE) + Bonus

Experience needed: We are seeking an experienced finance professional with a proven background in export financing and contract negotiation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in international finance, particularly in managing financial instruments such as Buyer Credit, Letters of Credit (L/Cs), and Guarantees. Experience in trade finance and a solid understanding of export law regulations are highly desirable.

About the role:

We are seeking a Customer Facing Finance Manager to join our dynamic UK Sales Finance team. In this role, you will be integral to supporting the rapidly growing UK export portfolio and pipeline. You will operate as a Sales Finance expert within bid teams, providing strategic advice and support throughout the bid phases and managing financial instruments during contract negotiations with export customers.

As part of a critical team, you will negotiate financing solutions, ensuring financial instruments are properly established, and mitigate financial risks during contract execution. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving the success of our export activities, contributing to both the growth and the long-term sustainability of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Sales Finance (SF) within the bid team for export bids, negotiating with overseas customers and preparing SF inputs
  • Manage contract financing, including Buyer Credit schemes, and ensure alignment with contract execution
  • Engage with external partners like Banks, Insurers, and UK Export Finance, negotiating financial instruments
  • Support contract amendments to ensure financial instruments remain valid and mitigate risks
  • Educate internal teams on SF instruments and support the Head of UK Sales Finance as needed

What we need from you:

  • Strong experience in trade and export financing within an international context, ideally gained in the financial industry or sectors involving complex contracting
  • Proven ability to negotiate in high-pressure situations and drive topics to positive conclusions
  • A proactive, 'can-do' attitude with a focus on finding innovative solutions for customers
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to form trusted networks internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently, with a proactive and curious approach
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • *Desirable* - Knowledge or experience in financial markets, banking sector, trade finance (bank guarantees/LCs), ECA-backed financing, Political Risk Insurance, treasury/risk management, contract negotiation, INCOTERMS, export law regulation
