Job Description

We have the opportunity for a Cyber Researcher to join Tokio Marine Holdings (TMHD). You will report to the Global Head of Cyber Risk and will support them to develop the Group's cyber underwriting strategy; cyber risk appetite; cyber risk limit; cyber underwriting guideline; cyber innovation; and cyber accumulation control and tools for affirmative and non-affirmative coverages.

The role includes responsibility for:

  1. Conducting research and developing new cyber affirmative and non-affirmative scenarios and models, describing and demonstrating the impact of cyber losses to our book of business and the internal Group Companies.
  2. Analysing portfolio data for trends and providing data points for counterfactual analysis and discussion within the CCoE team.
  3. Back testing / stress testing the existing cyber scenarios.
  4. Supporting the CCoE Cyber Actuary in identifying key data sources to inform scenarios and building internal and external relationships to enhance existing processes and scenario usage.
  5. Communicating our Cyber View of Risk to key business stakeholders, and actively seeking ways to improve our Cyber View of Risk.
  6. Clearly communicating any model uncertainty (internal and external model vendors), while retaining credibility and confidence.
  7. Working closely with existing team members on the future development of cyber modelling, and considering academia.
  8. Working both autonomously and as part of a team to find solutions to modelling challenges.
  9. Staying up to date with developments in Cyber Security by consuming research papers wherever and whenever possible.
  10. Supporting the CCoE Market Intelligence function in contributing content and enhancing the layout/design.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in an insurance-related research function and have working knowledge of data analytics and catastrophe models. It is essential that you are an expert in Microsoft Excel and a skilled user of either R or Python, comfortable with statistics and probability theory.
