Data Engineer

Job Title: Data Engineer - Real-World Data#

Responsibilities:

• Deploy and monitor Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines to transfer datasets from private or public sources into Azure-based data lakes.
• Support real-world data (RWD) statisticians by creating data cuts and patient cohorts using SQL, Python, and R, and develop engaging visualizations with Power BI, Python Dash, or R Shiny.
• Assist in integrating the data platform with third-party systems for seamless data exchange.
• Collaborate with RWD experts to define and implement incoming data quality checks to ensure robust datasets.
• Standardize datasets using Common Data Models (e.g., OMOP) and handle dataset tokenization when required.
• Contribute to defining user guides and best practices for data engineering processes, ensuring streamlined workflows.

Qualifications:

• A Master's degree (preferred) in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmacy, Statistics, Data Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, and SQL.
• Solid understanding of data architecture concepts, including data warehouses and lakehouses.
• Familiarity with infrastructure requirements such as firewalls, access control, system integration, and pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure is essential. Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft OneLake is a plus.
• Prior expertise in analyzing patient-level or real-world data (e.g., claims, EHR, or patient-reported outcomes) using analytics platforms such as SAS or Aetion.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
