Job Description: Data Protection Officer (UK) - Human Resources & Legal
Parttime Role: 2 days (10 hrs) per week
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our UK Human Resources & Legal team. The DPO will play a key role in ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations, building a robust data protection function, and fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Support and Guidance:
- Respond to queries from the business regarding data protection requirements, policies, and best practices.
- Provide expert advice to ensure compliance with UK GDPR, DPA 2018, and other relevant regulations.
- Data Subject Requests Management:
- Oversee and manage data subject access requests (DSARs) and ensure timely and accurate responses in compliance with legal obligations.
- Handle requests related to erasure, rectification, and data portability.
- Documentation and Compliance Obligations:
- Support the preparation and maintenance of mandatory documentation, including Records of Processing Activities (RPAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting for compliance audits.
- Building the UK Data Protection Function:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and strengthen the UK data protection framework.
- Develop policies, processes, and training programs to embed a culture of data protection across the organization.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the UK business units to promote awareness and understanding of data protection obligations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to teams on data protection matters and risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of UK data protection laws, including UK GDPR and DPA 2018.
- Proven experience in handling data subject requests and advising on compliance documentation like DPIAs and RPAs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
