The library service operates across the whole of the local health economy (West Sussex (north) and Surrey (east & mid), with libraries at East Surrey (main) and Crawley (branch) Hospitals. It aims to provide comprehensive multi-professional library and knowledge services to staff and students of various healthcare organisations.

Main duties of the job

Person specification Qualifications
  • Master's degree in library and information studies or equivalent level of experience
  • Chartered member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals
Experience
  • Previous experience of working in a library or information unit
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation eg. Copyright Act and The Data Protection Act
  • Proven experience of using information technology in a library or information service context
  • Proven experience of using library systems
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
  • A good knowledge & understanding of the NHS and its priorities
  • Knowledge of the principles involved in evidence-based healthcare and clinical governance
  • Knowledge of managing & delivering electronic resources
  • Confident in the use of software applications, including email, Internet and word processing software
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written including report writing and presenting to a group
  • Must be highly self-motivated and enthusiastic
