Deputy Head of Lighting and Video (War Horse)

We are looking for a Deputy Head of Lighting and Video for the War Horse UK Tour on a 4 month Fixed Term Contract.
The National Theatre's acclaimed production returns in an all-new UK tour. War Horse is an unforgettable theatrical experience which takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France. Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.
Starting on 7th July 2025 in Birmingham until 9th November 2025. Some handover will be required during the run in Bristol (June). Calls will be confirmed closer to the time and these calls will be paid the salary pro-rata for any hours worked.
Fixed term contract dates are dependent on production and production schedule (dates subject to change and subject to the Producer's right to give not less than two weeks' notice of closure of the Production).
Key Dates
- Day time rehearsals during the run in Bristol (June 2025)
- Tech 8th/9th July 2025 (Birmingham, Alexandra)
- First performance 10th July 2025 (Birmingham, Alexandra)
- Final performance 8th November 2025 (Norwich, Theatre Royal)
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Extensive operational lighting and video experience and excellent technical skills.
- Previous large scale touring experience essential.
- Experience with video systems.
- Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation including LOLER, risk assessment and working at height.
- Flexible and self-motivated with the ability to work well with actors and other theatre staff.
