Development Management Area Team Leader

Our client is a Local Authority based in South London and they are seeking an experienced Team Leader for their Development Team. You will be responsible for the day to day management of an Area Team, managing up to 9 planning officers, with the support of a Deputy Team Leader. The role will also involve reviewing and issuing decisions under delegated authority and attending Planning Committee meetings once a month.

Applicants for this post must be qualified Town Planners with experience of local authority town planning and recent experience of complex major development proposals. Your strong technical knowledge of UK planning legislation will need to be complemented with good management skills and the confidence and ability to direct a team. Experience of leading a team of Planners is also required for this role.

Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development.

The post is a contract role which will initially run for 6 months, and our client is offering an hourly rate of £55/hr umbrella. They also offer hybrid working.
