We support this through diverse activities, including policy and advocacy work, the biennial world congress, development programs, a portfolio of education activities to raise standards and quality assurance, and global data profiling of the profession.
About the roleThe Development Officer is responsible for driving fundraising, donor relations, and resource development for an organization, often in the nonprofit, education, or public sector. Their primary focus is to secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and individual giving to support the organization's mission and programs. This role is key to enhancing our funding base and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of our development programs. The successful candidate will focus on securing funds through grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and donations to support our strategic initiatives and expand our global impact.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the head of programmes and development to identify and develop new project ideas and impactful initiatives.
- Research to identify potential funding sources and develop a tailored roster of donors.
- Write and submit compelling grant proposals and funding applications, ensuring they align with funder criteria and deadlines.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, providing regular updates on project progress and impact.
- Develop strategies for donor retention and growth, including targeted campaigns to attract and retain corporate sponsors and high-net-worth individuals.
- Work closely with the communications team to ensure cohesive messaging across proposals, campaigns, and public communications.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in fundraising or development roles, with a proven track record of securing funding.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills, proficiency in English (additional languages desirable).
- Experience with CRM software and fundraising platforms is advantageous.
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative, with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Should be personable, collaborative, and culturally sensitive, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience in fundraising, business development, or nonprofit management.
- Strong writing skills for grant applications and donor communications.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, fundraising platforms, and data analysis.
- Event planning and campaign management experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- Hybrid model, working in the London office and remotely.
