Job Title: Electrical Contracts Manager
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: £38 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35)

About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to join a Council's Housing & Modernisation Department in Central London. This role will be part of the Asset Management - Engineering & Compliance division, focusing on managing borough-wide electrical schemes and ensuring high standards in project delivery, compliance, and resident satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the electrical safety team to ensure effective planning and prioritisation of workloads.
  • Monitor and manage service providers, contractors, consultants, and agencies to maintain high service delivery standards.
  • Oversee borough-wide electrical projects, ensuring quality workmanship and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Manage monthly performance reviews of contractors and consultants, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute towards investment strategies aimed at enhancing the electrical installations and fire alarm systems within council properties.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting on projects with an annual budget of up to £30m.
  • Ensure effective procurement, contracting, and compliance across various contract types.
  • Liaise with residents, officers, councillors, and other stakeholders to maintain strong communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • Represent the council at meetings, including tenant and leaseholder engagements.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2, 2391 Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations, and th Edition BS7671.
  • Strong knowledge of Housing Fire Safety regulations and testing/certification of Fire Alarm installations.
  • Experience managing electrical contracts, monitoring contractor performance, and delivering large-scale projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Excellent strategic planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including spreadsheets and performance monitoring tools.
  • Ability to manage and deliver high-value projects within budget and timelines.
  • Willingness to attend site visits and evening meetings as required.
