Electrical Design Engineer

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems for solar PV, battery storage, and other renewable energy technologies. You will work closely with the operations and installation teams to ensure that all systems meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for clean energy and sustainable design.

As a member of the Gensource team, you will be a representative of the company and expected to champion the company values at all times.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop electrical systems for solar PV, battery storage, and energy management systems.
2. Produce detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and system layouts using industry-standard software.
3. Conduct electrical calculations, load assessments, and feasibility studies for renewable energy projects.
4. Ensure compliance with relevant BS, IEC, IET wiring regulations, DNO requirements, and industry standards.
5. Support the preparation of technical documentation, including risk assessments and method statements.
6. Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and installation teams to ensure seamless project execution.
7. Assist in selecting electrical components and systems that optimize energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
8. Provide technical support to clients, sales teams, and internal stakeholders on electrical design aspects.

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

1. Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2. Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
3. Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with experience working in a collaborative environment.
4. A passion for sustainability and the renewable energy sector.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

1. Experience in electrical design for solar PV, battery storage, or renewable energy systems is highly desirable.
2. Proficiency in AutoCAD, PV Sol, or similar design software.
3. Strong knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and grid connection requirements.
4. Ability to perform electrical calculations, cable sizing, and fault analysis.

Experience: License / Certification:

• Full UK driving license
