We are seeking an Electrical Engineer for Building Services, focusing on facilities such as schools, offices, libraries, leisure centres, and community centres-not housing-related work.
The candidate will handle electrical services response maintenance, planned programmes, and capital works under the Building Service Manager's direction. Responsibilities include leading multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver capital projects, conducting or commissioning condition surveys, commissioning support services, and assisting clients per Service Level Agreements.
CAD experience and design capability is essential for this roleKey Responsibilities:- In liaison with the First Response team, technically assess and add detail to response repair requests, issue orders to appropriate contractors, monitor progress, monitor contractor's adherence to established response time targets, carry out quality checks of work on site and authorise payment.
- Be responsible for the preparation of specifications and tender documentation, as necessary, for electrical engineering works (planned, revenue and capital works, including insurance works) related to the maintenance, alteration, improvement, extension and construction of Council property.
- Be responsible for the production of tender and contract drawings using appropriate computer aided design packages.
- Responsible for the placing of orders with the relevant contractors, including the adequate inspection of on-site works and the validation of accounts for works completed, up to and including the final account.
- Carry out all functions of the Contract Administrator as defined under various (eg JCT) forms of contract.
- Commission and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary project teams where required.
- Manage the electrical engineering aspects of a project, from receipt of clients' requirements, planning applications, building control approval, tendering, on-site inspections, through defects to final completion.
- Must have an ONC / OND in Building Services (or equivalent)
- Must have an HNC / HND in Building Services (or equivalent)
- Must be able to demonstrate holding or working towards a Chartered Membership of CIBSE (or equivalent)
- Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of general construction practices, electrical engineering maintenance and design, current design standards, cost control and procurement practices
- CAD experience and design capability
- Demonstrate experience of, and an ability to provide professional advice, guidance, and / or training to colleagues and team members in the specialist of areas associated with electrical engineering / building services
- Provide evidence of relevant experience in a similar working environment commensurate with the level of the post advertised.
- Provide evidence of using computer-based programmes such as AutoCAD, NBS, NES, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and a clear familiarity with PC's, keyboard etc.
- Provide evidence of coordinating and leading electrical engineering, building services projects from inception to completion.
- Demonstrate a high level of drawing, oral and written communications skills in order to effectively communicate with clients and contractors.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce reports and written documents in clear and concise terms.
