Introduction

ArcelorMittal South Africa is looking to recruit Electrical Engineers.

  • Design and Development: Design and develop electrical systems and components for steel manufacturing processes. Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Installation and Setup: Oversee the installation and setup of electrical systems and equipment. Ensure all installations are completed according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintenance: Ensure regular maintenance on electrical systems is performed to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Repairs: Diagnose electrical issues in machinery and equipment. Use problem-solving techniques and a variety of tools to fix issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Reliability and Availability: Implement and follow preventive maintenance schedules to enhance the reliability and availability of electrical systems. Conduct inspections and tests to identify potential problems before they cause disruptions.
  • Throughput: Work to maximize the throughput of electrical systems by ensuring all equipment operates at peak efficiency. Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and improve overall productivity.
  • Safety Standards: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. Ensure a clean and safe work environment by following stringent safety measures.
  • Risk and Hazard Identification: Work closely with production and maintenance teams to identify potential risks and hazards. Implement strategies for early detection of faults and preventive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Analysis: Track trends and identify improvement opportunities in electrical systems and processes. Implement predictive measures and innovative solutions to enhance plant reliability and performance.
  • Medium to Heavy Current Machinery: Manage and maintain medium to heavy current machinery, ensuring their efficient operation and reliability. This includes transformers, switchgear, and other high-voltage equipment.
  • Large and Rotating Machinery: Oversee the maintenance and operation of large and rotating machinery, such as motors, generators, and turbines. Ensure these machines operate efficiently and reliably, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities. Document any changes or modifications made to electrical systems and equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including production, engineering, and quality control, to ensure seamless operations. Provide technical support and training to other team members.

Qualifications

  • B-Eng. Degree (NQF 8/10) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Government Certificate of Competency (Preferable)

Experience and Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of capital project initiation and management procedures.
  • Project management.
  • Experience in SAP PS and PM modules, compiling and maintaining maintenance plans.
  • Experience in the field of Reliability Engineering.
  • Proven ability to deliver results through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Computer literate: MS Office suite, latest analytical tools, design tools, product and project management tools, engineering tools, production tools.
